Cedar is native to North Africa, Morocco, and Algeria; its wood has an exquisite fragrance, extremely aromatic due to its high content of essential oil.

Cedar essential oil is an excellent insect repellent. Ancient civilizations used it for building their homes, caskets, and trunks, as its cent repelled moths and other insects. It has a syrupy consistency similar to sandalwood. It is a balsamic oil and, it is recommended for the respiratory system and to treat bronchitis. It is used in steam inhalation therapy and in decongesting massage for the chest and back.

It is antiseptic and beneficial for the bladder as a remedy against cystitis and more serious urinary tract infections. It is also a general toner and it also has aphrodisiac properties.
